Portfolios Pt. 2

Do not agree: I do not agree with the fac that "there's no crying in sports photography." An athlete in tears after a game was lost has a similar impact as a photo of a celebrating athlete after a game is won. Agree: The tobogganing photo is beauiful. There's a nice light to it and the trees in the background add a nice touch. Great dynamics.

Portfolios Pt. 1

-        Name of photographer: Alyssa Schukar -        General focus: photo- portraits that tell a story -        3 problems that judges addressed: not getting up close and personal, too much distance between subject and viewer, each picture is too similar, not enough strong singles. -        2 things the judges liked: The guy sweeping the stream in Haiti photo: background and its colours, baseball celebration picture -        My overall impression of the photographer? Likes and dislikes?: I don’t like all of the photos because they seem really standard. However, I like the energy of the baseball photo and the guy sweeping the stream in Haiti picture -        Name of photographer: Travis Haughton -        General focus: photoj- portraits that make a story, impact ...

Landscapes

Now answer a few questions about what you learned and post the answers on your blog in a post called Landscapes. 1. Where is one place on the internet you might go to better prepare yourself for the location you are shooting at? Google maps sattelite view can give one an idea as to when and where they should visit and what the best hours are to shoot at. Also, google the weather. If you want to shoot a sunset, it's best to make sure you're not shooting a dull, cloudy one if that's not what you're going for.  2. What is one app you might download to help you when trying to pick the best angle to take landscape photos? The Photographer's Ephemeris is a useful app to download. 3. What is the biggest problem shooting with a zoom or telephoto lens? Zoom lenses can make the foreground and backround seem closer together, thus eliminating depth. Telephoto lenses can rid an image of a focal point. 4. Instead of using the HDR method you learned in my class, what is a...

Merger Photo Preview

1. Is there something you see in the photo above that you think could be a problem when you take your photos? Look carefully. The fence looks like it's in a fisheye perspective. However, it is possible for things to get distorted because like a panorama, the camera or subject is moving. 2. Where do you think would be a great place to take this type of picture here on the Bowie campus? A great place to take a merger photo on the Bowie campus would be in the weight room or by the octagon looking structure thingy.  3. Can you think of something creative to actually DO in the photo when you take yours? I could do a little day in the life sequence wherein one photo I'm in bed, in the next I'm brushing my teeth and so forth. 4. Is there something you could wear that would help you when you do this photo? You could dress up as an array of different characters and make up a little one-man play.
