Architecture Preview #1

NORD LD BUILDING architect:  Behnisch Architekten year of completion: 2002 location: Hannover, Germany  status: public value: $181 bil. reason of creation: local hotspot for  retail, commercial, residential, cultural, sport and leisure I chose this building because it's very impressive. The mathematical skill it must have taken to put the building together is hard to comprehend. The building looks light and airy, and like it would come crashing down with a gust of wind. I find that pretty exciting and appealing. I'm sure it's anchored many, many metres into the ground, though.  The view from the top must be amazing. Sculptured House, USA architect: Charles Deaton year of completion: 1963/remodel: 2003 location: Genesee, Colorado  status: public estimated value: $3.43mil (2015) reason of creation: unknown Deaton's Sculptured House is one of my favourites because although it's very unique and bold, it still blends in with the environment. Sensory Overload

"I believe that more and more, we are defining our environments not as the spaces themselves, in terms of the buildings or architecture, but rather by the objects and devices that we buy and surround ourselves with. ... For the most part I agree because sometimes, more materialistic people value objects more. However, that is not always the case with people that value friendship and life experience, as opposed to materialism. As an aspiring photographer, looking at Seymour's photo's is inspiring. I guess he's hinting that it's the story of the photo that matters more than most things. I definately wanted to visit...

Sports warm up

why is this part of a winning sports portfolio assignment? This picture displays the light-hearted relationship between the coach and his players. It's also almost like a behind the scenes photo, and it's interesting to see serious athletes with their guard down. Also, the photo is framed well and captured at the perfect moment. What is the shutter speed? The shutter speed is high, at maybe around 1/1600 or so. Is this a key moment? Could it have been planned? This photo could have been planned beforehand. What advances/techniques are present in this photo? The photo is well balanced and the people form a nice line. The rule of thirds is used, and there's good contrast between the subject and the background.
