The Nut Graf         The nut graf is a crucial piece in any news story. Essentially, the nut graf explains the point of the story. It also provides readers with the point of the story and vital information regarding it. Most importantly, the nut graf lets the readers know why the story is of signifigance.         The nut graf follows the lead and explains the connection to the rest of the story. The graf provides the 5 w's that were not included in the lead and only crucial information or stats. Usually, an essential theme in included and followed by a good quotation. However, it is important to note that the graf should never exceed 2 paragraphs. Overall, a reader is provided with useful information regarding the purpose of the story and why they should read it. 5 w's  who  what  where  when  why  (how)

Student of the Month Story

Malorie Beller Wins Student of the Month at Bowie High School Star student Malorie Beller claimed the "Student of the Month" title this March at James Bowie High School. Beller worked extremely hard to achieve this award, but the award and its benefits proves her had work worthwhile. Beller is well deserving of her title and those who nominated her were in agreement. Bowie's star student shows that through hard work and determination, one can achieve any goal they set their mind to. Beller won this award by getting good grades and fully committing to her extracurricular activities, even if it meant sacrificing her free time. "I do not have that much free time every day because right when I get home, I have to go to swim practice, and then right after that, I have to do my homework," Beller said.
